What ends up in an Escalon trough
Orchard leaf, husk fragments and harvest dust pack into a dense mat that behaves nothing like ordinary street-tree debris.
Properties bordering almond and walnut ground collect hull and husk fragments during shaking season. Mixed with field dust and then wetted, that material compacts into a mat that will not float out under a hose.
Older homes in the Escalon grid add mature shade canopy on top of it. Newer builds in Brentwood Estates and Silverwood get less leaf but more airborne grit, which settles as a heavy sludge at the low end of every run.
Cleared by hand and hauled away
Debris comes out into a bag, not onto your roof or your landscaping.
Blowing a trough out is faster for the contractor and worse for the homeowner — the material lands in the valleys and against the roof jacks, then washes back down in the next storm.
Exterior Prime professionals pull the material out by hand, bag it and take it off the property. On rural lots we do not leave a pile behind the shop for you to deal with either.
Flow-testing the outlets
Every downspout is flushed and watched to where it actually discharges, including buried laterals where they are accessible.
An outlet that looks clear from the trough can be solid at the elbow. Escalon properties with a downspout tied into a buried lateral toward a field ditch are the most common place for a hidden blockage.
The vertical run and reachable elbow are covered at $0.75 per foot. If a buried lateral turns out to be the obstruction, we quote it separately after inspection rather than guessing at it.
Timing against the valley rain year
The right window in Escalon is after leaf drop finishes and before the first storm system settles in for a week.
Overflow damage here is rarely dramatic. It is fascia staining, saturated soil at the foundation, and paint failure on the eave line that shows up two seasons later.
Booking the roof soft wash and the gutter clean on one trip is $120 cheaper than buying them apart, and it puts the work in the correct order — roof first, then the trough that just caught everything.
Most Escalon homes settle into one autumn appointment, generally late October through early December in 95320. Escalon properties with heavy canopy or a shop roof of their own often add a lighter mid-spring pass after the almond bloom drop.
